$12M Yellow-Diamond Earrings to Hit Christie’s Auction Block

A pair of fancy-vivid-orange-yellow diamond earrings is set to lead the upcoming Christie’s sale in New York, with a price tag of up to $12 million.

The set, called the California Sunset Diamonds, contains oval mixed-cut diamonds weighing 12.20 and 11.96 carats, along with oval brilliant-cut white diamonds of 3.03 and 3.02 carats and marquise diamonds. They will lead the December 6 Magnificent Jewels sale, Christie’s said Tuesday.

A number of other colored stones will be on offer, as will jewelry from well-known designers such as Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Graff, Jean Schlumberger, and Van Cleef & Arpels. The sale will also feature jewels from private collections, including that of World War II commander Adolphus Andrews, Jr., and Emily Taylor Andrews; American heiress Margaret Thompson Biddle; Hollywood filmmaker Ivan Reitman and his wife; and American billionaire and philanthropist Julian Robertson and his wife.

Christie’s will also hold a concurrent Jewels Online sale, which will run from November 28 to December 8, it noted.
